Artist Statement & Resume

I paint stuff I love.

My work combines traditional landscape and urban themes with a bold, contemporary color palette and impasto techniques for a distinctly post- impressionist-influenced style. I’m drawn to bright scenes with dynamic lighting and compositions that allow me to strike a balance between realism and abstraction. I’m also interested in the tactile qualities of oil paint, how layering and brush work can add dimension and make a painting interesting to view from almost any angle. I count Edward Hopper, The French Impressionists, the Taos Painters and a variety of current artists including Michael Flohr and Georges Coulomb as influences.

I was born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri and have been drawing and painting since the age of 4. I received my BFA from Washington University and currently balance my fine art efforts with a full-time career in advertising. I welcome any commission requests or further inquiries regarding my work.
